From a wonderfully preserved and original post-Civil War freight wagon used to resupply the fort. The Transcontinental Railroad, which ran nearby, began operating in 1869 and brought this remote place much closer to civilization. Among the rail cargo that came the last few miles by wagon: Blatz beer from Milwaukee.
