The Pony Express followed a long-used natural transportation corridor when it set up a crude station here in 1860. This marker, on a stone base, is easily overlooked in today's commercial clutter of towering signs, gas pumps, fast food and a budget motel.

The Flying J Travel Center handles traffic from I-80 and I-76, while the Lincoln Highway goes through the small downtown a short distance away, across the South Platte River.
