Central Pacific trains, such as Jupiter, ran this route. They exchanged passengers and freight with the Union Pacific in Ogden UT, 50 miles (80 km) away, which had hotels, restaurants etc.

The joke was that you couldn't get anywhere without going through Ogden. Today's punch-line uses airline hubs like Atlanta, Chicago or Dallas.
