AUTO TOUR #4 (Promontory UT)

AUTO TOUR #4 (Promontory UT)

Early trains ran at around 20 MPH (32 km/h) slow enough for passengers to enjoy scenery like this.

This section was used by all trains from 1869-1904 when the Lucin Cutoff across Great Salt Lake opened. This route then became a branch with only a few light trains for local traffic.

All train service ended here in 1942 when tracks were removed for salvage and use in WWII.
