This building dates from 1938 and is unusual in several respects. One is the extensive use of glass: old-fashioned single-pane framed in metal. The overhang blunts the sun. It also helps that the front is facing north.

This building is far too fancy and large for a gas station--and likely had a cafe as well. For many years it was also the local bus station.

The two posters advertise that a circus is coming to town.
