Things are quiet now, but this was a key transportation corridor for more than 50-years. The Transcontinental Railroad passed overhead and the Lincoln Highway used this narrow passage.

The Lincoln Highway was rerouted a short distance away about the time the numbered highway system began. And trains haven't run here in more than a quarter-century.
