DUTCH MILL-DETAIL (Lincoln Highway Denver CO)

DUTCH MILL-DETAIL (Lincoln Highway Denver CO)

The building went up in 1889 and the painted sign for The Dutch Mill restaurant is circa 1910-15. Opening day images from the Denver Public Library show blonde waitresses dressed in Dutch costumes. Customers sat on stools around a huge U-shaped counter. The place was later billed as a cafeteria and closed in 1935.

This detail photograph is from 2015. A zig-zag crack in the brick shows at the edge. But much of the sign has survived for a century.
