This wooden bridge is 200 feet (61 m) long and handles a single lane of traffic. It opened in 2000 and replicates a structure that carried National Road traffic from 1834 to 1865--when it was washed out.

Two other bridges over the Embarras River have come and gone, along with ferry service. Modern US 40 is nearby, on another routing. Most traffic uses I-70.
