This is a lonely spot on a vital transportation corridor. Everything is speeding west (left) at 60 mph (100 km/h) or above.

In the foreground is a vehicle on 66. Behind it is the BNSF Southern Transcon, busy round-the-clock. The locomotive is the fourth in a series pulling truck trailers and shipping containers. (Today's locomotives run in either direction, controlled from the lead unit.)

Through the trestle is the remnant of a wooden-decked bridge that once carried Dirt 66.

Behind that is another railroad embankment. BNSF is the successor, through mergers, of the Santa Fe railroad.
