Wiggins CO is in the 1975 country song "Wolf Creek Pass." The opening line is, "Me and Earl was hauling chickens on a flatbed out of Wiggins." Two grammatical errors in just the first four words is pretty intense, even for country music. (For non-native English speakers, it should be: "Earl and I were hauling chickens....")

But the record belongs to a Kentucky waitress I encountered at breakfast in 1972. When I asked about a mysterious something on my plate--a white blob with tiny lumps--I was told, "Them's grits!"
