The John Coffee Memorial Bridge carries the two-lane Natchez Trace Parkway 0.8 miles (1.25 km) over Pickwick Lake, created by a TVA dam on the Tennessee River.

Now a peaceful fishing spot (a small boat is visible at left-center) the river was once a roaring monster. It was crossed by a ferry in the peak 1790-1820 period.
