This is from Afton Station, a restored former D-X (or DX) gas station, now devoted largely to Packard cars.

This Studebaker was sold under the advertising slogan "First by Far with a Post-War Car!" And for a few years in the early 50s, it looked like Studebaker, whose history dated back to wagon-making, might earn a place alongside GM, Ford and Chrysler. But it was not to be.

Studebaker and Packard merged in the mid-50s and negative synergy soon doomed both.

Afton Station also has a wonderfully-wacky 1958 Studebaker Hawk reworked as a Packard, complete with anodized aluminum fins and a...unique...fish-like front end.
