This gallery samples the Pony Express route, contemporary historic sites, and related scenes east to west. NPEA Re-Ride images are from 2017.

During 1860-61 the Pony Express sped information between St. Joseph MO and Sacramento CA in 10-days, 15 in winter. It was replaced by the telegraph wire which went up alongside it.

Portions of the route were used by the Transcontinental Railroad and later the Lincoln Highway. (Both have separate galleries including later structures.)

These images are only offered here. The copyright watermark does not appear.
