NAME-BRAND GAS (Rt 66 Litchfield IL)
Must be nice to have your name in lights...if somebody else changes the bulbs. But Vic Suhling was running a cut-rate gas station. And I'll bet he had to change his own bulbs. That sign is way up there. It must have been a horrible job--where would you put the ladder?
This one-of-a-kind electrical hog had 76 bulbs per side, and neon as well. That's part of the neon equipment dangling out. Ol' Vic had 152 bulbs that were constantly burning out in the five-season climate of Illinois (the extra is Tornado Season).
Vic's gas station and pumps are long gone now, only his sign remains.
